A 22-year-old Mankato man is now facing a felony assault charge after an altercation last month outside of a bar in the city.

Mankato Police say Mylo Hommes knocked out another man, and the call to 9-1-1 stated that the victim was lying unconscious on the sidewalk.

The victim told police that Hommes began yelling racial slurs at him, and when the man didn’t respond Hommes first pushed the man then punched him in the face. The victim said he hit his head on the concrete when he was knocked down by the punch.

Investigators say surveillance footage from the downtown area shows Hommes standing nose to nose with the man before pushing and then punching him.
