An arrest warrant has been issued for a Mankato man after police say he hit and bit his girlfriend and then stole her car on Tuesday.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety says the victim told them that she and James Hillyer had been drinking before she went to bed. A bit later, the woman says she called and whistled for her dog and Hiller mistakenly believed she was catcalling and whistling at another man.

The criminal complaint shows that Hillyer hit her in the right eye with an open hand and bit her right-hand ring finger, before picking up her car keys and leaving in the woman’s vehicle.

Investigators say it’s possible the man is the Sioux Falls area, where his children live.
