The Mankato Department of Public Safety says one person was briefly hospitalized after an overnight fire at an apartment building on North Second Street.

Firefighters arrived to find a bathroom fire in one of the four apartments, and officials say there was significant smoke damage throughout the home and two of the apartments had heavy fire damage.

The tenant that was taken to the hospital was treated for smoke inhalation and released.

The damage total is estimated to be about $200,000 and the cause of the fire is under investigation by the Minnesota Fire Marshal.
