The Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport has closed all but one of its runways.

“The rate of snowfall has really been the challenge,” said Airport spokesman John Welbes, “It’s falling and ¾ of an inch to an inch an hour and it’s really difficult for our plows to keep up with that rate of snowfall.”

Crews are continuing to plow with the goal of keeping at least one runway open when possible.

Welbes added, “The important message to travelers today would be to check with your airline and check your flight status before you come here today, come to M.S.P. That would be true for people picking up travelers on flights today, to check that flight status before you come to the airport. There will be significant delays.”
