The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for much of east central through southern Minnesota, including the Mankato area, through Wednesday evening.

Forecasters say snowfall accumulations of 6 to 12 inches can be expected with snow heavy at times, particularly during the Wednesday morning rush, and snowfall rates of one to two inches an hour are expected.

Meteorologists say snowfall will diminish Wednesday afternoon and evening but the NWS says it will likely still impact the evening commute.
