The Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office has issued a no travel advisory after Captain Paul Barta says some people have ventured out in the storm and become stranded.

Barta says anyone stranded in a vehicle is asked to stay with their vehicle and call 911 so they are aware of the situation. Deputies will check on them by phone periodically and evaluate their ability to reach them.

He adds that leaving the warmth of a vehicle in these conditions is extremely dangerous.

In addition, Blue Earth County plows are only out for emergencies at this point due to whiteout conditions.
