A non-profit is taking steps to address the growing number of death by suicide amongst teens across the US.

When you look at the middle and high school age group in Minnesota, ages 12 to 18, suicide is first leading cause of death. So this is something that we’ve got to work on prevention.

Clark Flatt, president of the Jason Foundation, says they created the Crisis Support Team for educators and youth workers to aide in suicide prevention following large-scale or individual trauma.

“We want to be that sounding board, we want to let that person know they’re not alone, we take away that feeling of being alone and provide them a team that will be behind them.”
