The Region Nine Development Commission (RNDC) is reviewing MnDOT’s Area Transportation Improvement Program for the fiscal year 2020 – 2023.  They say this $285 Million program will bring much-needed support to the roads, bridges, and infrastructure in the nine-county region. This public meeting will be held on April 10, 2019, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the South Central Service Cooperative located at 2075 Lookout Drive North Mankato.

Public input is essential to ensuring our taxpayer funds are invested wisely in southern Minnesota’s transportation infrastructure.  Our communities, manufacturers, farmers, and families place their lives and livelihoods on our roads nearly every day, said Steve Rohlfing, chairman of RNDC.

“The work that we can do together; staff, stakeholders, community members and working with the legislature to ensure a sustainable transportation system for Minnesota’s future needs is exciting and will require us to build on the legacy of strong investment and create our transportation and transit system of the future,” said Margaret Anderson Kelliher, Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Bringing our roads and bridges currently graded as D- to a safer level is paramount to our communities.  Being responsive to the needs of our state and good stewards of taxpayer funds is essential and will require planning and prioritizing.  Public input is essential to ensure we get this right, said Anderson Kelliher.
