Bipartisan legislation chief-authored by Madison Lake Senator Rich Draheim to increase health care price transparency was signed into law by Governor Tim Walz following unanimous approval by the Minnesota Senate and House of Representatives.

The bill requires provider-based medical clinics to disclose often hidden facility fees that they charge patients.

This builds on other bipartisan legislation to require hospitals to provide patients an itemized description of their billed health care charges within 30 days of discharge. That bill overwhelmingly passed the Senate earlier this month, however, the House of Representatives has yet to act on the measure.
