One of the key issues waiting for state lawmakers when they return from the Easter-Passover break tomorrow is election security. The state is entitled to $6.6 million from the federal government to bolster election security, but Senate Republicans have approved only a portion of the funding.

Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon says…”it looks to me like pure politics and it’s a dangerous game that they’re playing, because every day that we don’t have that money, like every other state in America doesn’t have that money, is a day that it makes it harder for us to keep our system safe for the upcoming 2020 election.”

Republicans say they are committed to approving the full amount once there has been extensive vetting. Simon contends that has already happened and there is no reason to delay.
