Though both sides had to make some concessions to reach their “global” budget deal, Governor Walz and Senate Republicans agree a proposed tax cut for the middle class is significant:
“If you’re a Republican today, you’re saying for the first time in 20 years, we got an income tax reduction in the middle class. That happened, and I’m proud to have been a part of that.”
And Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka adds:
“I think both sides will take credit for that, and I’m fine with that, it’s a win for Minnesota.”
The cut works out to a .25-percent rate decrease for married couples making between $38,700 and $154,000.
