The Minnesota Timberwolves began their preseason on Tuesday night in Phoenix, AZ.
The organization has been claiming to leave behind the toxic ideals of Tom Thibodeau and Jimmy Butler, and is pushing for a more fast-paced offense.
While this appeared to be the case, it wasn’t quite enough for them to beat the Phoenix Suns in a 106-111 loss for Minnesota.
With Karl-Anthony Towns leading the offense, the Wolves went straight for the hoop the entire game. Out of 39 three-point attempts, only eight were successful. Coach Ryan Saunders says that he likes the number of shots taken, but “[didn’t] like that we had 27 turnovers”.
Whether or not this offensive strategy will pay off as the season goes on is unclear, but the team is confident that this is the start of something new.
