November is Men’s Health Awareness Month. Doctor Richard Peller says it’s a challenge to get many men to go to the doctor.

“I think the preventative part for most guys has been non-existent,” said Peller. “Or at least not at the top of their lists.”

Peller says keeping up with immunizations helps a lot

“Tetanus and pertussis vaccinations are important, as is the flu shot every year,” said Peller. ” And after you’re 65 we add a pneumonia shot.”

Peller says early detection for many cancers is key so he encourages regular checkups to be a part of men’s regular routines.
