A Winter Storm Watch will be in effect for the entire listening area beginning Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday morning. Forecasts are calling for six to ten inches of snow in the Mankato area. Joe Calderon with the National Weather Service in Chanhassen was asked what’s the best-case scenario and what’s the worst-case scenario regarding the system.

“This is a higher range than we saw 24 hours ago and there is a strong likelihood of at least six inches in the Mankato,” said Calderon.

Calderon says the weather service is also keeping an eye on a system that could produce a heavy snowfall event as travelers return home Saturday and Sunday.
