Hockey Day Minnesota will be coming to Mankato next year. Wayne Peterson, the director of marketing partnerships for the Minnesota Wild, made the announcement Saturday night on Fox Sports North. Brad Braun is the co-chair of the Mankato organizing committee

“The whole community is excited and the buzz is already out there,” said Braun. “We think the greater surrounding area is going to be equally excited. We have a great challenge to create something special and we’re going to do it.”

A press release from the Wild says additional details, including the date, match-ups and the official schedule for Hockey Day Minnesota 2021 will be announced at a later date. The event will take place at Blakeslee Stadium on the MSU campus. According to the Wild, the organization created Hockey Day Minnesota in 2007 to celebrate the game that has made Minnesota the State of Hockey.
