The city of Mankato has been awarded funding for two projects through the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development ‘s Contamination Cleanup Grant Program. State officials say Bridge Plaza was awarded nearly 416-thousand dollars to clean up petroleum and other contaminants on the 1.94-acre site. The Department of Employment and Economic Development says Studio 5 will receive nearly 242-thousand dollars to clean up metals and other contaminants on the nearly half-acre site. City officials say the funding will help increase the tax base by nearly 190-thousand dollars, create 28 jobs and retain 108 jobs. State officials say matching costs will be paid by the developer.
