Video of a recent fight on a Mankato school bus was aired on local television and social media. Mankato school superintendent Paul Peterson says student behavior on buses in still under the district’s jurisdiction.

“The district has a strong and clear code of conduct,” said Peterson. “And those policies apply to buses as well. As we became aware of that situation, we took the appropriate steps that kids are held accountable and we took the appropriate steps to see that it doesn’t happen again.”

Peterson says student safety is the district’s top priority, saying if students don’t feel safe, they won’t learn.
