Spring burning restrictions are set to go into place statewide as soon as the snow melts.

The DNR says the proactive step will help reduce potential stress on the state’s emergency response network during the COVID-19 crisis. Small recreational fires or campfires are still allowed and permits may still be granted in certain cases for limited prescribed burning. The DNR says, overall, they hope private landowners do their part to support the COVID-19 response by following the restrictions and being safe with fire.
