79 Minnesotans have died due to COVID-19–that’s according to the latest reporting from the Minnesota Department of Health. That’s up 9 from Monday. The total number of positive cases is roughly 1,695. The positive cases come from over 39-thousand tests completed since late January. Governor Tim Walz:

“We need to be testing 40,000 a week or more. We need to make sure the testing and PPE are here are there. So those people that are saying open the economy, you are right. And to do so we need to be testing 5,000 people a day and that needs to be happening as soon as possible.”

As of the most recent reporting period, 177 people were in the hospital with a confirmed case of COVID-19, 75 of them in the I-C-U.
