It has finally happened! The Minnesota Vikings have won a game! On Sunday, October 4th, the Minnesota Vikings faced the Houston Texans. At the start of the game, both teams had a record of 0-3. Clearly, neither team has been having the season they hoped for and came into the game with hopes to turn things around. Minnesota struck first with a touchdown at the end of the first quarter. The Vikings would score another three points before the Texans would answer with their first field goal in the second quarter. The two teams would continue to go back and forth scoring with the Vikings retaining the lead throughout the entire game. In the end, the Vikings won the game 31-23.
Despite maintaining the lead throughout the entire game, the two teams were very closely matched up. The game was filled with many amazing plays and ended with a touchdown being taken away from the Texans. Additionally, the Vikings made a little bit of history with three players, (Thielen, Cook, and Jefferson,) all raking up over 100 yards either receiving or on the ground. For the Vikings, this was the first time a trio had achieved this milestone since 2000 and for Thielen, this marked his 19th 100+ yard game. Not all of the drama was positive for the Vikings though with Harrison Smith getting ejected from the game for targeting another player. Overall, the Vikings have clearly made some improvements, but the team still has a long way to go before fans have any post-season hopes.
