After the MN Vikings agreed to terms with defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson, they decided to release another DT, Sharmar Stephan.

With this move by the Vikings, they cleared $3.75 million off the books of Stephan’s cap number of $5.083 million. The Vikings technically saved $3.09 million.

Stephan started last year for the Vikings as a nose tackle. Michael Pierce will now take over as starting nose tackle, after sitting out last season due to COVID. Tomlinson will take over as starting three-technique defensive tackle.

On Monday, Tomlinson agreed to a two year, $22 million dollar contract with the Vikings, and it became clear that Stephan will not remain with the Vikings.
