Severe weather caused damage this week in parts of Minnesota, putting a spotlight on the efforts of the American Red Cross. Spokesman Dave Schoeneck says this is what they gear up for.
“One of our main functions is to respond to disasters. We respond to thousands of disasters across the country. We do about one every eight minutes.”
Schoeneck says most disasters are on the smaller end of the scale, but there is a tremendous need for donations of time, money and even blood, so the Red Cross can be ready to respond to any crisis.
