Nurses from other states could work in Minnesota as long as they meet standards in a national “compact” — that provision stays in the state Senate’s health and human services bill over Democrats’ objections. Rochester Republican Carla Nelson says one group opposes Minnesota joining the multi-state nurse licensing compact:
…”the Minnesota Nurses Association, which has a very small membership compared to the large number of licensed nurses in our state.”
Shoreview Democrat Jason Isaacson responds:
“The folks who are the experts at being nurses oppose this, just so we’re clear about that — the folks that actually *are* nurses.”
The measure will likely face stiff opposition in the Democrat-controlled Minnesota House.
