(St. Paul, MN) — A second strike is being averted after nurses at 15 Minnesota hospitals voted to approve new contracts. The Minnesota Nurses Association voted “overwhelmingly” yesterday to ratify the contracts. About 15-thousand nurses in the Twin Cities and Twin Ports area were set to move forward with a second strike on December 11th before tentative agreements were reached a week earlier. The contracts include pay increases and will give nurses more say in how staffing levels are set. MNA President Mary Turner called the win a “historic victory for nurses and patients.”
