(Washington, DC) —  Congresswoman Ilhan Omar is cheering the extension of Temporary Protected Status for Somali nationals living in the U-S.   Omar said in a statement, “Granting these people the dignity of remaining in the country they call home is simply the right thing to do, and I am grateful that the Biden Administration has listened to advocates and lawmakers.” Somalia is in the midst of devastating famine and a protracted armed conflict.  Minnesota is home to the largest Somali population in the U-S.  Omar is the first Somali American elected to Congress.
