(Minneapolis, MN) — The federal government is dropping its appeals involving two former Minneapolis police officers convicted of violating George Floyd’s rights during his murder in 2020. The Eighth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals acted on the request from federal prosecutors in the cases of J. Alexander Kueng and Tou Thao. The defendants are still appealing their convictions handed down by a jury last year. Thao was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison and Kueng was sentenced to three years.
