Minnesota State beats Mount Royal 5-2

Minnesota State started the new season Saturday by beating Mount Royal 5-2. The game started off close, with both teams 1-1 at the end of the first. Ultimately, freshman forward Cade Borchardt deflected a shot, pulling the Mavericks into their 5-2 lead that ended the game. Minnesota State plays Arizona State in a pair of nonconference games next Saturday. Source Intern Leah

Mavericks Beat the Vikings 27-7 in First Home Game

Minnesota State Mavericks beat the Augustana Vikings 27-7 last Saturday at their home field, Blakeslee Stadium. The win prompted MSU to a 2-0 this season, dropping Augustana to 1-1. MSU held a 10-7 lead going into halftime, scoring in the third quarter to bring the score to 27-7. The win proved to be the ninth win in a row against Augustana for the Mavericks. Minnesota State's season continues as they hit the road this Saturday to take on Concordia-St Paul. Source -Intern Leah
